Wivelsfield Village Hall Wivelsfield East Sussex
The Village Hall which was constructed in the 1980s required updating to meet today’s standards. The hall is located in a public recreational park, with adjacent sports pitches and a block of residential garages which remained in use. Facilities include a theatre/stage, kitchen and bar, offices, reading room and meeting space. The project comprised four extensions of traditional construction including a new entrance lobby, and refurbishments throughout the building with improved disability access and upgrades to M&E.
Works included temporary propping to support the existing roof and first floor elements whilst demolition and alteration works were undertaken. The main hall was replastered following asbestos removal. Where possible, redundant demolition and spoil material including suitable timbers removed from the existing roof, were reused.
Groundworks included new SUDS and foul drainage and the installation of an attenuation tank together with clearing and remedial work to existing drainage and ditches. External works included the formation of disabled parking spaces with paving and planting to the perimeter of the building.
