St Catherine's School Bramley Guildford
St Catherine’s is a day and boarding Church of England school for girls aged 4-18. The new three storey sixth form boarding house has replaced facilities which no longer met today’s standards. The building provides accommodation and welfare facilities for up to 90 students with further accommodation for staff and visiting students.
The building is steel frame construction with composite floor built up of precast concrete, insitu concrete topping and a floating timber deck floor to finish. The external envelope is formed in a steel frame system clad with a mixture of brickwork and zinc panels. The roof is pitched with loose fill timber rafters, insulated and completed with standing seam zinc panels including five ventilation towers.
In addition to the new boarding house, alterations and minor extension works were carried out to three other buildings including The Warren, a Grade II listed neo-gothic house.
Groundworks and civil engineering which included the installation of foundations, access road and paths were carried by the Company’s in-house Groundworks and Civil Engineering Department.
