The College of Richard Collyer Horsham

The ground floor of the science building has been converted into a café/social studies and exhibition space and a new two-storey teaching building constructed at this 6th form college.

Works to the café comprised new full height external glazing, new ceiling bulkheads, making good to walls, and new floors.  The majority of the noisy work within the café was carried out over the summer holiday period and work undertaken during term time was planned to prevent disruption to student studies.

The Shelley building provides 10 classrooms and ancillary accommodation.  Construction comprises pad foundations supporting a structural frame, SFS external walls and precast concrete floors, with external elevations a mix of brickwork, Enviroclad metal cladding and curtain walling.  Due to the restricted site and crane oversailing adjacent occupied buildings, the weight of the PCC units was reduced to allow these to be placed using a mobile tower crane.  The lifts were carried out during the college holidays.

External works carried out by the Company’s Groundworks and Civil Engineering teams include footpaths, drainage, services installation, and landscaping.
